I had an epiphany recently while I was watching a YouTube video by popular speaker and mentor, Tim Han. Han believes that people who struggle are usually guilty of five of the most common bad habits in the world.
If you don’t have time to watch the video, here’s a quick summary:
- Crumbling Under Pressure.
- Negative Self-Image.
- Playing to Lose.
- Never Committing.
- Dreaming too Small.
In my case, I have a playing-to-lose mindset, which means that I only to the bare minimum to get across the finish line. I don’t compete to win. But the good news is that’s a really fixable problem – and you can fix whatever is holding you back, too.
Han says that if you want to transform your life, you must transform your habits…and that’s pretty sound advice. About 40% of what you do is out of habit alone (that’s nearly half of your day wasted) and over time, those behaviors can start to take root.
So how do you break free? Start small. Take baby steps. Change something little and stick with it for a week. Maybe you just start with drinking more water or focusing on tasks for a specific length of time. Eventually, success will become the habit instead.
