5 Signs You’re Doing Better Than You Think

5 Signs You're Doing Better Than You Think

Do you ever feel like a failure at life? Discouraging days are a given, but there are ways to turn things around for the better.

Can’t think of one single positive thing happening in your life right now? I bet you can find at least one. In fact, I found five, and I know you’ll relate to at least one of them.

Remember: the goal is always progress, never perfection. If you’re alive and moving forward, inch by inch, you’re doing it right.

You Have a Job

Do you get up every day and slave to the grind? Work may seem repetitive and mundane, but feel fortunate that you have a job to show up to. Even being able to work part time is better than not working at all.

Having a job gives you a sense of purpose and security. It also gives you something to focus on rather than your personal problems. Having other goals to complete in the workplace can alleviate some of life’s other stressors. And for that, you should be thankful.

You Have at Least One Good Friend

Not having anyone to enjoy certain things with may make you feel defeated at times. This may spark feelings of loneliness and negative thoughts about your life. But are you really that lonely?

Most people have at least one good friend they can count on. Maybe they don’t call or come around as often as they could, but they still care about you. The ball is in your court. Reach out to them. Turn to the people in your life and nurture those relationships.

Your Finances Aren’t That Bad

Maybe your adjustable gross income is only $25,000 on your taxes. You may be depressed that you don’t make a ton of money, but are you making ends meet? Do you have a roof over your head and clothes on your back? Maybe you’re working hard to reduce or eliminate your debt.

If you have a good FICO score, that’s even better. This means it’s easy for you to get credit at your bank when you need it. Finances might be stressful, and we all feel like we’re drowning from time to time, but if you head is still above water, you’re probably doing better than you think.

There’s Food on Your Table

We all wish we could go to our favorite restaurant several times a week and indulge in endless shrimp and tasty lobster bisque. Knowing it will set your bank account back a bit keeps you from going. Nonetheless, you do have food in your cupboards and refrigerator. Save a good steak or seafood dinner for special occasions or for payday. Eating microwave dinners doesn’t mean you’re doing badly; it just means you know how to manage your budget wisely.

You’re Able to Put the Past Behind You

You might be wondering how putting the past behind you makes you better off today? Many times, the past can hold you back from moving forward in life. The result is shattered dreams and fear that can feel like chains binding your ambition.

There’s no need to feel dragged down by the past, and you’ve proved that. You’ve come a long way since your job loss or your divorce. Look at the positive. The heartaches you’ve put behind you have paved the way for more exciting opportunities to come.

On days you feel defeated and it seems like your life is in shambles, it’s time to rationalize the situation. Most likely, you’re doing much better than you think. Do you really have it that bad? Sometimes, the best thing you can do is take a step back and count your blessings.
