These 4 Thoughts Could Be Preventing You From Success

Can You Reprogram Your Brain for Success?

I’ll admit it… I struggle with success. Actually, I’ll go one step further and say that I struggle with consistency and achieving even a modicum of self-sufficiency. I never understood why.

Then I watched this TED talk by Carrie Green:

Is it true? Could my brain be what’s standing between me and success? Turns out that may be exactly what’s going on.

Here are the “top offenders” in self-limiting thoughts:

  • I can’t.
  • I’m not good enough.
  • I don’t want to.
  • I’ll do it tomorrow.

Sounds common, right? That’s because they represent what holds 95% of people back every single day (including me, from time to time…we all do it).

The silver lining is that anyone can reprogram their brain for success by changing their inner narrative. The key is to stop talking yourself out of what’s best for you.

When those negative thoughts come up, stop, recognize them, and then refute them with some true facts. Instead of saying “I can’t,” or “I’m not good enough,” say, “I’m smart and capable and I can learn how to do this.” Instead of saying “I’ll do it tomorrow,” set a schedule to tackle the problem; then, stick to it.

As for “I don’t want to”…well, that’s a horse of a different color. Ask yourself why you’re feeling forced to do things you don’t want to be doing in the first place. Maybe it’s time to look at major life changes to get you where you love what you do.

And yes, you can do that, too.
